FUN & GAMES IN FILM LAND..

HI EVERYONE.


JUST A QUICK UPDATE REF "DEATH AFTER DARK " FILM PLANS..


had a few set backs over the last few months i.e. #hospital etc..
but we are back on track..
whats happening now is filming is put back till 2012. why well it,s down to two things.
#MONEY & LOCATION.
been in talks with a major T.V. company for about a year & yesterday i was at a meeting & they basically said NO. but that,s o.k. it,s very complicated when a t.v. company is involved.
if i was a producer for a JAMES 007 BOND flick they would give me the keys to the kingdom LOL
but i,m not & don,t want to be.


the bottom line is they wanted my script but not me etc & i wanted  access to film at a T.V. centre to make my film.
the whole last hour of the plot is set in a T.V.centre & i want real t.v presenters in it as themselves etc.
so i need a T.V centre to use etc .i,m in talks with other company's & have interest which is good.


so i need to make a big decision ref the flick.


(a) put it on the back burner & make another flick ,iv,e got loads of scripts but there no good if there just sitting in a draw LOL. need to get something on film etc & then if its any good i could then try #CROWD FUNDING etc to raise some ££££ .


(b) go to #AMERICA & make it there,, a friend can get me a T.V. station & actors & camera equipment etc etc. for .#FREE. i would just have to get my ass over there next year etc .so it,s something for me to think about.
my mate did a similar thing . so theres no reason why i can,t do it :-)


(c) still try & make it here,, that's what i want ,, the main star of the film is the north east of England & people from here.

so i,m going to get the website up & see if people want to help & get on board.
i need people who want to make a movie & are not just interested in how much ££££ i,m going to pay etc..

i.e when George Romero made "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" back in 1968 he got together with 9 other friends etc & everyone put in $600 bucks & that cash got the film production started, they had no idea there flick would change the horror film forever, they just wanted to have a go & make a movie. yep they got ripped off by the film distributor & made no money ,but it got George on the ladder to get investment in future projects etc .


it,s funny i get about 5 e-mails a day,from people saying there a actor or a film tec & it,s all money,money,money, they make more in a month than my total budget LOL.
some nice person online ask ME advice about film making & i couldn't,t give them any, i just said keep trying & trying , there,s always a way, you just have to do it your way & keep thinking positive.

FUNDING......

I HAVE HAD INTEREST IN MY SCRIPT FROM U.K. BASED FILM COMPANY, BUT HAVE DECIDED TO SAY NO, DUE TO THE FACT I WOULD NOT BE INVOLVED ETC & YES IT WOULD GIVE ME SOME ££££ BUT IV,E WORKED ON THIS FOR A LONG TIME & I NEED TO DIRECT IT MYSELF EVEN IF I ASS IT UP.
HAVE ALSO GOT NO WHERE REF ,U.K FILM FUND ETC.

WHAT IV,E DONE IS MAKE SOME MEGA CHANGES TO MY LIFE.

I HAVE SOLD MY MOTOR BIKE .ALSO SOLD LOTS OF MY FILM POSTER COLLECTION OF EXPENSIVE POSTERS & 3 OF MY GUITARS .

I,VE GOT 2 JOBS & YES ONE IS STACKING SHELVES IN A SUPERMARKET :-)

I,M LIVING AT HOME WITH MAM & DAD LOL, & THIS IS HELPING BIG TIME TO GET A BUDGET OF 20 GRAND RAISED , ALSO SOME CLOSE FRIENDS ARE THROWING SOME MONEY INTO THE PROJECT.

THIS WILL GIVE ME TOTAL CONTROL OVER MY FILM.

THE ONLY THING LEFT TO SELL IS MY SOUL TO THE DEVIL HAHA, BUT HE DON'T WANT IT ,SILLY SOD HE COULD HAVE HAD A MAIN ROLL IN THE FLICK HAHA.

I KNOW I,M TAKING A MEGA RISK & SHOULD BE MAKING A MEGA SMALL FILM, BUT I MIGHT ONLY GET ONE SHOOT AT THIS & I WANT IT TO BE A FILM I WANT TO SEE & WOULD PAY TO SEE ETC.

HAVE SHOOT SOME STUFF WITH VARIOUS CAMERAS TO SEE IF IT,S GOING TO WORK OUT.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE YOU JUST HAVE TO WORK OUT HOW TO FILM IT & NOT SPEND ££££

I.E. FILM A "CAR CHASE" IN NEWCASTLE CITY CENTER =MEGA ££££
BUT IF YOU FILM IT ON COUNTRY SIDE ROADS IT COSTS ZERO ETC.

WANT A ARIEL CAMERA SHOT =COSTS MONEY BUT IF YOU STRAP A CAMERA ON A FRIENDS MODEL HELICOPTER IT COSTS ZERO ETC.


DEATH AFTER DARK #PLOT.....

WELL, SOME PEOPLE MIGHT THINK I,M MAKING A DUMB ASS ACTION FLICK BUT I,M NOT.

IT,S A VERY PERSONAL FILM ABOUT "HIV/AIDS. WITH SOME ACTION TOO.

IT WAS GOING TO BE A HORROR FLICK BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED SINCE WORLD AIDS DAY LAST YEAR. WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE BRITISH PRESS ON T.V. HARDLY COVERED IT & DIDN,T MENTION THAT A GUY WAS CURED OF AIDS LAST YEAR IN GERMANY, THAT TO ME IS THE GREATEST MEDICAL BRAKE THROUGH IN YEARS,

BUT IN THE U.K. HIV IS THE FORGOTTEN ILLNESS.

WHY MY BIG INTEREST IN HIV/AID, WELL I,VE BEEN HIV FOR 15 YRS +& I NEED TO MAKE THIS FILM TO HELP CHARITY ETC & YES HOPE TO GET SOME CLOUT TO MAKE A BIGGER FILM IN A FEW YRS.

IT,S CHARACTER DRIVEN MOVIE SO WHEN THE ACTION HITS IN THE SECOND HALF I HOPE PEOPLE WILL CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN IT.


I,M NOT GIVING TO MUCH AWAY,, BUT THE PLOT IS A BIT LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN " THE GAUNTLET & ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13" HALF CHASE FILM & HALF PART SIEGE MOVIE , BUT WITH A MEGA MODERN TWIST.


THE MAIN PART OF THE FILM IS SET IN A FICTIONAL T.V. CENTRE IN A FICTIONAL COASTAL TOWN. WITH LOTS OF FAKE T.V. COVERAGE ETC
THE FILMING......

WELL IT WILL HAPPEN THIS YEAR IT,S JUST GETTING THE RIGHT PEOPLE WHO I KNOW AND TRUST ON BOARD,, I.E. MY BEST FRIEND IS A PRODUCER & HE,S HELPING & CAN HANDLE ALL THE BIZZ SIDE OF THINGS & LET ME NOT WORRY ABOUT ALL THAT..

THE HARD PART IS TO RECREATE A T.V. CENTER ...SOME STUFF WILL BE FILMED AT A LOCAL T.V.CENTRE & SOME AT A LOCAL OFFICE UNIT THATS EMPTY & FOR RENT.

CHARITY MOVIE NIGHT.we need help..

just a update about the charity film night that we are trying to do with all money raised going to

BBC"CHILDREN IN NEED".

we are hoping it will take place at the local cinema "THE TYNESIDE cinema" in Newcastle. in October.

we have T.V. coverage by the BBC etc.

& radio advertising bbc. radio newcastle. etc

the plan is to put on 5 classic si-fi / horror flicks & charge about £20 ish = £4 a movie.

the films we have picked so far are :-

ALIEN (1979) ridley scott.
THE THING (1982) john carpenter.
DAWN OF THE DEAD(1979) george romero.. full 126min version.
SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) edgar wright.

WE HOPE TO GET COPYWRITE TO SHOW THESE MOVIES IN AMAZING 35mm..

we are also tyring to get the film companies to not just give copy write for free but all make a donation to charity as well. you get nothing if you don,t ask (ha-ha).

so we need one more film to make 5???

how do we link 2 fab monster flicks to 2 great zombie films??? help is needed??

the only films i could think of to go between alien/the thing & dawn/Shaun were:-
"DOG SOLDIERS" (2002) neil marshall.
"THE MIST" (2007) frank darabont.

what do you guys & gals think ???

HOW TO WRITE A SCRIPT ?? HAVE A GO :-)

i,ve been writing my script for about 4 months.

it,s from a story that i wrote yrs ago & i,m having a go at turning it in to a movie.
it,s amazing when you chat with some people on-line etc that they seem to have the x-factor of how to write a film/script.

they seem to know everything about it etc.

what makes me laugh is that you get people asking you what software etc you are using to write your film i.e. are you using script editor something or other blah-blah-blah & what format is it in & you need this software etc.

one nice person on twitter thought i was taking the p*ss when i said i was writing it on A4 paper with a HB pencil etc, & yes i am becasue im faster a writing than typing etc & yes there is loads of crossing out & arrows & drawings etc, i,m doing story boards as i go LOL.

they then said i had no chance at writing a successful script BULLSHIT its not what you use its what you write.

steven king still uses a old ROYAL typewriter with the F missing etc, why because he likes it.

so if you want to have a go at writing a script etc have a go, all you need is a pencil & your brain.

p.s i will type my script up properly when its finished hahaha-)

BOX OFFICE HIT OR FLOP ???.

what make,s a film a box office hit or flop???


well according to Hollywood a box office smash is a movie that makes it,s money back on it,s opening week & a flop is a movie that don,t..

to me thats shit,, if i made a movie & it broke even after 6 months i would run through the streets of Newcastle naked & be mega happy...

here,s a story from june 1982 about box office hits/flops.

Steven Spielberg's E.T. was released at about the same time that john carpenters THE THING was on at the cinema.. everyone went mad for E.T. & it made mega bucks.

i was one of the people who only wanted to see THE THING.
wow it,s john carpenter & he,s going to give us the shit scariest monster flick ever.

so i went to the ODEON cinema in Newcastle & i had the whole cinema to myself & saw
THE THING in 70MM wow,fantastic.

THE THING went on to become a box office flop & got bad reviews etc.
E.T. had people queuing round the block ,good for E.T.

john carpenter & universal studios parted company, he, was going to direct FIRESTATER for them but because the thing didn,t make loads of $$$$$ they basically told him to fuck off LOL.

then a strange thing (haha)happened when THE THING hit video in 1983 it started to get a cult following & made mega bucks & then jump forward to 2010 & it,s now classed as a very successful si-fi film & gets fantastic film reviews.

.so it was a box smash after all .it just took a few years,

so there you go a box office flop can end up being a box office hit

and yes THE THING is the greatest monster movie ever made haha,

but that's just my view:-)

SO WHY SHOULD I BE ANY GOOD AT WRITING & DIRECTING A MOVIE??
WELL IF IT HAPPENS NEXT YEAR I MIGHT MAKE A TOTAL ARSE OF IT(HA-HA)

I LOVE MOVIES & IT,S MEGA HARD TO GET A SMALL FILM OFF THE GROUND BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP AT IT & NOT COMPLAIN, I HATE PEOPLE WHO MOAN ABOUT THEY CAN,T GET THE BUDGET ETC,

5. SOME T.V. COVERAGE NEXT YEAR ON LOCATION IN WHITBY.(75%)
6. A SMALL BUDGET TO COVER, FOOD/DRINKS & HOTELS ETC FOR ALL LOCATION WORK.
7. A COPYRIGHT TO USE A FAMOUS SONG FOR THE END TITLES.
8. I,M DOING THE FILM SCORE (100%) LOL:-)

SO HOW AM I MAKING THIS HAPPEN WITH OUT ££££/$$$$ ?????
WELL I,M USING ALOT OF MY SAVINGS ETC TO GIVE ME THE TIME TO GET THINGS UP & RUNNING.
I DON,T WANT TO BECOME SOME RICH "DICK HEAD" MOVIE DIRECTOR,I JUST WANT TO TRY & MAKE MOVIES.

WHAT MAKES A CULT MOVIE ???.

so what makes a cult movie?

well the answer is, it,s a film that you love & would watch again & again.

i,m a mega movie fan & some of the films i think are cult some people might hate.

everyone is different.

i,m bizzy setting up a film site to review some classic cult films etc.

one day i hope to direct my little film,but it,s not as easy as you think to get things done.

right to my first ever cult movie blog review:-

the movie in question is:-
"MISSIONX"

written/directed/produced & starring DAVID BAKER..

THE PLOT..

grant is a film student & he,s a bit bored with life,he loves playing video games (just like me)

lets play RAMBO & kill all the bad guys in the safety of your bedroom.

he contacts a mercenary on the internet called "RYAN"(david baker) & they meet for a chat with the idea to interview ryan for his collage film documentary.

grant life is about to change as he finds out that ryan is in town to stage a mega revenge attack on a mercenary agency in the city & grant records the whole mad mission on his sony PD150
video camera, as ryan & his group of mad ,bad & dangerous to know men, go on a MISSIONX.

this band of guys make the DIRTY DOZEN look like a bunch of wimps.

so there,s the basic plot & what a plot.

WHY IS THIS FILM GREAT??

dead simple it,s got good characters, good acting "everyone in the film are great"

it,s ultra real, the most real looking film iv,e ever seen,

forget "THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT" & "DIARY OF THE DEAD"

you think all the characters in MISSIONX are real people,amazing.

also the fact that this film was made on a micro budget is amazing,

if you want the total budget ask david.

it puts big budget hollywood flicks to shame.

the dvd extra,s are amazing,lots of cool stuff about how to make a movie with hardly any money.
so there you go a class film made on a mega small budget, david baker & grant timmins & everyone who made this film happen should be proud of what they have made.

MISSIONX is in my DVD collection between "john carpenters ESCAPE FROM NEWYORK" &
george romero,s"NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" why?? because MISSIONX rocks.
